The Fitzwilliam New York Meetup
Meeting our American readers
Next month, I will be passing through New York. I thought this would serve as a good opportunity to host a sequel to our terrific Fitzwilliam San Francisco meetup.
Although our regular in-person events (reading group, maths meetup) are all in Dublin, I am always surprised by how much of The Fitzwilliam’s readership is outside Ireland. According to Substack’s analytics, we have 129 subscribers in New York, which to me seems like a lot.
The meetup will be on Thursday, April 16th, in The Folly, a bar at the intersection of Greenwich Village and SoHo. It will begin at 6:30pm, and I will stay as long as people are still interested in chatting.
The Folly also serves food, including some vegetarian options.
I’ve only been to New York once before. Despite that trip’s brevity, it greatly enhanced my reading of The Power Broker.
If you are bringing friend(s) who have no idea who I am, you may want to point them to the Milton Friedman conference and Notes on Taiwan as examples of two recent essays I’ve written that I’d be happy to talk about. I’m also happy to answer any questions about Progress Ireland (currently accepting donations!).
You can RSVP to the Partiful here. If you have any trouble finding us on the night, you can send me a DM.
