This is terrific. While well known to Douglass scholars (along with Douglass’s deep connections to Scotland, through his love of Walter Scott and Robert Burns) it isn’t more widely known or appreciated, how Douglass care for both the particular and the universal fight for freedom and self sovereignty.

Love this. A fantastic literary treatment of Douglass in Ireland may be found in Colum McCann's exquisite novel, Transatlantic. One of the most beautiful things i have ever read.
